Women

Women.. where do I start? You can't live with them, you can't live without them! Yes we may get emotional once a month.. or maybe a week. Maybe we have mood swings, get all mad at you and then want you to still love us right back. But we do a lot for this world. Women will always be symbol of a future mother and that is why all women should be respected. Women help fill this world with love and hope. When you are really down and need someone to help you get back on your feet, it's usually a female figure that you want to speak to and let it all out. Women jut have a more sympathetic way of handling situations. Women go through one of the most painful things in life which is pregnancy, to help maintain the human population alive. Women are all about sacrifice, when they have to go through nine months carrying another human inside them. Women help make this world a more peaceful place by sending off loving energy to the world. A world without them, would be a world with violence and war. We need more women leaders in this world. Maybe that would be the revolution and change of direction in what is going on in our world. There is a lot of poverty, crime and war still going on in our world today. We need men to give women a chance to show their abilities and skills to the world. Women's roles in society has to be evolving because women are the key to a more peaceful world. And this is exactly what we need right now. Women nee to be credited for all their hard work and empower other women to do the same. Women have to step out of their comfort zone and begin leaving their mark on the world.

Blog 3: My passion

Passion,  it's a strong word, and that is why I chose to say fitness and nutrition is my passion. I've been in the "fit" lifestyle for over a year now and I can say it is one of the best things I have ever started in my life. I use to be a very "small" girl when I was about 15 years old, a little less than 100 pounds. And then I went through my first break up and gained about 50 pounds in a very short amount of time. I got stretch marks all over my body and I was just horrified at what I had become. I didn't quite realize what was happening to my body, until I noticed that most of my clothes were not fitting me anymore. I would always be upset and complain about myself but didn't really do anything about it to change my situation. Summer 2013, I decided I was going to do something about my body and I stayed committed to that lifestyle ever since then. I did endless amounts of research about nutrition. For example, the health benefits of each food, the nutritional facts  and which foods are essential to my current fitness goals. At the moment, I can look almost all different types of foods and know the nutritional information about it. The other half of my research was on the fitness part. Learning different exercises and what each is good for. For the first two months (which was summer), I did weight loss and lost all the extra pounds I didn't want and after that, so about over a year ago, I started weight training. Every time I workout, I feel a lot better and know that I am doing something that is benefiting my body. I encourage anyone to get involved with the healthy lifestyle because you will look and feel better. It helps boost your confidence and also nourishes your body.

Blog 4: Relationships

Relationships are hard, it's kind of like a full-time job! Being in a relationship means you are putting a lot of your heart, mind, time and effort in one person. It is good that that person is well worth it! A relationship is a two-way street, mutual effort and if someone is not doing their part, the relationship can fall apart. Having a partner is great. You have one person who truly cares for you and will be there when no one else is. That person becomes the person who you think about when you first wake up and the person you think about right before going to sleep. You begin to plan your future with them involved. It is a beautiful process, when you begin to trust and love someone for who they are. You also fall in love with the idea that someone loves you just the way you are. You can maintain a relationship with good communication skills. This is vital in order to be able to look past the problems that arise after the first six months of a relationship. You have to understand, that not everything can go your way, and a relationship is all about comprise. Getting into a relationship will definitely change someone. After your first love, you become a different person. You don't see things as before and sometimes miss the person you were before. Its a life-long commitment to putting effort into being able to understand each others needs. It is overwhelming to see how many couples who were so deeply in love with each other break up due to miss-communication and not meeting each others' needs. In the 21st century there are many resources that can help fix a broken relationship or marriage; such as, mediation or counseling. It is important for couples to put time in working on their relationship just like any other important aspect in their life. It is better to work on old precious things than quickly give up and try something new.

10 MUST-dos in College

The 10 MUST-dos of College?

1) Get to Class: getting to class in one of the easiest ways to be successful in school. By showing up to class, you will hear everything be presented by your teacher. Which is a lot different than when you are reading at home alone. This way you are also hearing the information be read to you. Also, the teacher is there to answer any of your questions. Which is a lot better than when you are at home alone, and can not get an answer right away. Also, everything that is on a test is taught in class. So... no mater how you're feeling, get up, get dressed and make it!

2) Be on time: Make sure you are on-time. You are making a statement everything you come to class late. You will be surprised at how much important information you can miss by skipping the first 10 minutes of class!

3) Hand in you work: anything is better than a zero. Make sure you follow up with your teachers about things you have missed. Almost all teachers will be glad to explain to you and try their best to create a plan that will help you succeed.

4) Join a study group: Study groups will help keep you
motivated. Get together with your study group at least once a week and review what you learned that week.

5) Review your work at home: just by reviewing the information taught at school for 20 minutes each day will help you remember the information 50% better.

6) Don't get in the wrong crowd: making the wrong friends can be the biggest hole you will be digging yourself in. Careful, make friends who will teach you new things and have the same goals as you.

7) Get help: there are plenty of resources around the school to help you become better: tutors, teachers and counselors

8) Get involved: join a sports team or a school club, it will help you meet new people that share the same interests as you

9) Dress to impress: dressing well to school will make your day a lot better. Always dress and look your best to feel your best

10) Be yourself: don't try to be something you're not, there are people who will like you just the way you are!

Blog 2: Social Media

Social Media is almost part of everyone's life. People's choice in what social media they choose to take part in varies by preference. People have to realize that a lot of their time is being spent on their phones and their social media. For instance, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc, and that if they do not limit their usage, they could be wasting a lot of unwanted time. Checking our phones has become so natural, that almost most of us check our phones before getting out of bed. It has become so vital for people to check their phones that they put themselves in dangerous and vulnerable situations. For example, texting and driving or checking social media while in traffic. A lot of students find that is hard for them to concentrate because they find themselves switching between their homework and phones too often. It is safe to say, most teenagers and young adults use their social media to update their friends on what they are doing or how they are feeling, and not so much for educational purposes. The internet can be a great resource for learning and finding out the answers to our daily questions. However, we need to know our limits when it comes to social networking. People have to become aware that a lot of their time is spent on their phones, and it is better to be doing something productive. People have to start familiarizing themselves with all the benefits the internet can offer rather than just talking about their own lives to others or reading about other people's lives.  For example, you can learn how to play the piano, or a new language or how to do almost anything on the internet and begin using these tools to their advantage. The internet is like a school, you can learn almost anything on it. So people should open their eyes to new things that will teach something they didn't know.

ARGUMENTATIVE WRITING ASSIGNMENT

Gender roles

For many years it has been evident that there are specific gender roles in our world. The expected gender roles are not fair and the world has to come to a realization that in our evolving world, the expected gender roles must be evolving as well. For example, the expectation that women are obligated to take care of all the needs of the children. In the "Why I want a wife," article, the author says, " needless to say, my wife will arrange and pay for the care of the children while my wife is working." This shows the inequality in gender roles. It is not fair that women are expected to work their full time jobs and also take care of the house and children like a "stay-at-home" mom. The duties of women has not become equal since the past, rather, has doubled. In today's society, women are financially independent and are able to take care of their own needs. In the past, things were different; where a woman was completely dependent on her husband to take care of her and their children. That is why couples have to divide their roles in their domestic life, in order to have a healthy relationship. It is also unfair that women are expected to fulfill all of their husbands' physical needs with no expectations in return. Another example from the same article is when the author says, " and, of course, I want a wife who will not demand sexual attention when I am not in the mood for it." This shows not only how a wife is almost obligated to satisfy her husbands' needs in order for her him to stay faithful, but also not have her emotional and physical needs met when he is not ready. This is a one way relationship, and in a marriage or relationship, there has to be mutual effort and reasonable expectations. In the past, men were allowed to demand all of their sexual needs. However, an improvement in today's society, is that the law helps protect against women's rights. Women can call the police if their partner forces them to do anything without their consent. The partner will be charged with rape. This shows how women now have control over their bodies and are entitled to say no. In today's society, women still have lower incomes than men. This is unfair because women go through the same educational path as men do, but also have to deal with much more difficulties in the process. Women are criticized and judged far more in this process, so they are dealing with a much more challenging path. It is unfair that women have lower incomes, and this has to be changed because of the challenges they face to reach their goals. In conclusion, gender inequality is an issue that is still present in our world. There needs to be more awareness about this issue because empowering women and creating equal gender roles, will help make a world of equality.

Blog 1: Cyber Bullying

Cyber Bullying

It hurts people physically and emotionally, and can happen to anyone. Cyber bullying is an issue that has been on the rise since the digital world has become a daily usage in most people's lives. A lot of teenagers or even young children agree that they frequently see bullying online. For example, a lot of the cyber bullying that occurs is when people discriminate against another person's belief. Another common reason is, when per-teens and teenagers share the wrong information and files on the internet. An example is the Amanda Todd case that occurred in Canada October 2012. She committed suicide after posting a video on YouTube begging for cyber bullies to stop tormenting her. Cyber bullying can create many problems in a young person's life. It will affect their ability to perform at school. Also, cyber bullying affects a person's confidence and how they see themselves'. Children are now taught about the different types of bullying, how it affects the victim and how to stop it, from a young age. Cyber bullying not only hurt the victim, but also the family's victim. It is very hard for parents to know that their children are being hurt and not be able to do much about the situation. I really hope that one day, the education system tries to play a bigger role in teaching kids about this area because it will help keep the school environment a safe and enjoyable place to learn. I remember when I was about the age of eight or nine and two older girls from my school use to bully me on the bus. It was a horrible feeling and I really felt like no one could really help my situation but myself. Even though I was at such a young age, I remember feeling very helpless and it was definitely a hard stage in my life. Since, I have experienced bullying personally, it is a very important topic to me and I wanted to raise more awareness on the issue.
